The Evolution of Publishing in the Information Age

The Interactive Values Forum

What should interactive media cost? Does everything boil down to an hourly rate or a price per page, or do we find a way to pay for insight, creativity and the perfect look and feel? This forum is about the developing market for interactive services: web site design, CD-ROM development, programming, hyperlinking, web hosting and all the elements of running a publishing business in the digital age.

  • Tell us what you've paid for your interactive publication.
  • Describe how you charge for your new media services.
  • See what other folks are paying, and argue over whether the prices are too high or too low.
  • Discuss how prices compare around the world.
(E-P is read by publishing professionals in 58 countries.)
If you're a customer of new media services, don't give your vendors' names unless you have their permission. If you're a supplier, don't post sales spiels or badmouth the competition. (You can include links to a graphic and to your site.)

Interactive Values is a special interest forum focusing on management and financial issues. For other perspectives, see the
Writing for Interactive Media Forum on creative and editorial issues, and
The EP Diary Forum covering topics of more general interest.
