This week's feature on continuous publishing describes interactive editorial work as a constant process. There's no real edition, no finish to the work like the crisp ending that comes on deadline day in print. Editing a publication is no longer factory work, in which a product is spit out the back end of the assembly line onto the reader's doorstep. Now, it's more like gardening, in which the living content, the on-line database, is constantly expanded, revised, pruned and back-edited.
