Most personal pages lack professional design sense *and* copy. It doesn't take long to realize that there aren't as many well designed and written pages as there are "home pages", and I guess that is what keeps artists, copywriters, proofreaders, and editors well-paid in this market. Forgive me if I stretch this metaphor a bit, but the Web's contribution to writing reminds me of Karaoke's contribution to singing. Yes, you occasionally get some incredible talent at the clubs, but most of the time the people on the mic can't sing a note...they're just having fun. 'Nuff said.
